In the name of research...

Indiana University is seeking to legally block a state's law requiring that aborted children be buried or cremated, because it would prevent the public university from experimenting on aborted babies' organs and tissue.

Screen Shot 2016-05-31 at 2.49.55 PM.pngIndiana University prides itself on being a "major research institution." It's amazing what gets promoted in the name of "research." For decades, IU's pride and joy has been the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction which serves the campus as its breeding ground for the promotion of every imaginable form of sexual perversion and is housed in one of the University's most beautiful buildings on the old quad (see picture). We know the sort of "research" Kinsey did and we have no difficulty imagining the sort of "research" the Kinsey Institute carries on as his legacy.

Now, this public university is suing its own state government that funds it, seeking freedom to continue experimenting on the corpses of murdered children. All in the blessed name of "research."

Loving animals rather than our neighbor...

Here's the first sentence of the article running at the top of the Google News page just now:

The killing of a gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo in order to save a child who fell in its enclosure has sparked nationwide outrage.

Worship of the creation rather than the Creator is on constant display in our world. No wonder men are lying with men, rather than women, and our women are lying with one another. Refusing to give thanks to God, He has given us over to utter degradation. And sadly, most Christians will read the above sentence from CBS News and feel neither revulsion nor fear of God. Similarly, when our cats scratch visitors' legs with their claws and our dogs bite visitor's legs with their teeth, we parade our shame by cooing over them. We make it clear to all that we love our pet—not our neighbor—as we love ourselves.

It sickens me how many Christians are nicer to their animals than they are to...

Every son's dream...

Yesterday, our family got texted this pic of son Taylor cutting grass with his own son, Jackson. The caption was "suburban version of the farmer and son with pails."

Beautiful. Here's the section from Daddy Tried:

THERE’S A PICTURE I saw in the farmhouses of my first churches(a yoked parish of two congregations eight miles apart) in Wisconsin’s dairy land. Two farmers have finished chores and are walking from the barn to the house. Each is dressed in bib overalls, each wears the same cap, each has...

The good father: childbirth turns your bride into a mother...

When I speak with fathers whose wives are pregnant with their firstborn, I warn them the birth of their child will be an adjustment and they may feel a wee bit jealous of their newborn son or daughter. "It's normal," I tell them. "Your bride is about to become a mother, and after your child is born your relationship with your wife will change. She will no longer be your bride and lover. She will have become your child's mother and you will be relegated to a distant second place in her priorities." (Yeah, I'm overstating it, but work with me here.)

From the moment your newborn infant is placed in your wife's arms and begins to nurse, that child will own her, body and soul. Don’t make the mistake of thinking of her as merely a "parent." She is now a mother. Other than a fool caught in his folly, there's no more cosmic force on earth...

Justice Roy Moore and the scheming, conniving Southern Poverty Law Center...

The Southern Poverty Law Center should rank above the ACLU in the list of the wicked tormenting the righteous whom we wait upon God to judge. But it's not just that they are wicked. It's also that their marketing scheme is a bald-faced lie. Despite the "Poverty" in their name, the Southern Poverty Law Center has nothing to do with "poverty." What they give themselves to is not helping the poor, but promoting rebellion against God. They depend upon rich liberals' filthy lucre to litigate against truth, righteousness, and justice.

Typical of their abuse of law to further the rich and persecute the poor is their recent persecution of Roy Moore, Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. An earlier post told how the SPLC filed suit against Justice Moore for opposing the United States Supreme Court's Obergefell ruling—a ruling as elitist and privileged and powerful and wealthy and educated as any this court has ever issued. But they market themselves as the Southern Poverty Law Center, so a reasonable man will ask what promotion of gay marriage has to do with fighting poverty?

If you search online for comparisons of per capita and household income of homosexual and heterosexual couples, three things are quickly apparent...

The State Department's Office of Inspector General trashes Hillary Clinton's e-mail narrative...

A European friend used to tell me how much he disliked Chancelor Merkel. And it wasn't her politics that turned him off, but what he saw as her naked ambition in every policy decision she made. He said Merkel was that consummate brand of politician who knows no principal other than popularity. If the wind is blowing in this direction, he sets sail for this direction, and if it blows in that direction, he cames about and sets sail in that direction. We here in the States who remember when Bill Clinton was in the White House know the type. President Clinton was known for turning on a dime, especially after an electoral defeat. He had no principles; only the most intense desire for popularity that I've seen in any politician in my lifetime which had a particular aspect we won't rehash just now.

Then, this past year my European friend told me he had somewhat of a change of heart concerning Chancellor Merkel. He said he had been amazed at her response to the refugee crisis. Despite her political base being opposed to the government allowing refugees into the country, Chancellor Merkel planted her feet and said she would not allow Germany to refuse these sojourners trying to cross their borders and make Germany their home. He was so proud of her.

If these United States elect The Donald as our next president, no one will have voted for him because they think he's a principled man. On the contrary...

Suffering: God's scalpel...

If you call our church office, you'll usually be helped by Katie (Mrs. Ben) Walker, our office manager/secretary/Grand Poobah. Katie's a delight to all of us, but that doesn't quite say it. Katie is a gift to all of us—a gift from God. We are grateful to God for Katie, but also grateful for two Reformed Presbyterian churches near Purdue University, the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Lafayette and Immanuel Reformed Presbyterian Church in West Lafayette, Indiana. These were the pastors, elders, and congregations who loved and led Katie through her years of suffering. Recently, God saw fit to operate on Katie again by taking her father, Rev. David Long, away from his loved ones and the veil of tears that is this life, to the presence of the Lord and the exceeding glory that is the life eternal.

Katie was the speaker at our women's retreat a couple months ago and she spoke on suffering. At a tender age, Katie knows her subject well. But better, Katie is willing to relive her suffering in order to serve her brothers and sisters in Christ. Our Warhorn site just published Katie's testimony and I hope you'll all go on over there and read it.

Doug's creatively working with ingredients...

Don't know how or why I get e-mails like this, but this one arrived today and I thought readers might get a kick out of it. Now we know what Doug's been doing on vacation. What I can't figure out, though, is why no mention of Nancy? My Dad and Mud always shared the cooking, but when I've been at the Wilsons for a meal...

Rachel Miller's malice against Pastor Doug Wilson...

[Note added by TB on May 25, 2016: Here's how Rachel Miller's feminist supporters have just summarized Son Joseph's blog post below: "the Bayly Blog post that accused Rachel Miller of countless sins — albeit without evidence." Well, read on for the non-evidence.]

When Rachel Miller took over the Aquila Report, longtime readers noted a decline in the site's Biblical commitments. Ms. Miller pushed the edge of the doctrinal envelope in a number of places, yet it was possible to think it was simply her attempt to liven up the site.

But then there was sex. This is the place where Satan is focussing his attack on God's law today, and it became apparent that Ms. Miller's editorial leadership was most toxic here. She showed her feminism on the Aquila Report, but Ms. Miller kept the worst parts of her sexual rebellion for publication on her own website titled A Daughter of the Reformation.

Feminists who want to hold onto conservative Christian credentials claim they submit to their husbands at home, in private. Occasionally they trot their husbands out online to testify to their submissiveness at home. But in their online attacks on men, these women take no prisoners. You can see it on all the Reformed sites: women condemn pastors and elders without a hint of modesty or shame.

No one suffers from these attacks more than Pastor Doug Wilson. Some of their attacks are focussed on...

The good father: so you're a father!

So you're a father. You didn't really dream about becoming a father like your wife dreamed about becoming a mother. But when you loved the woman who is your wife, God smiled on you both and made your love fruitful. So now you have a son or daughter and you love him!

Looking back, it seems like it all just sort of happened. And now, holding this precious baby, you know you're not ready. I'll let you in on a secret every father knows: fatherhood is the only preparation for fatherhood. Ask your wife and she'll tell you childbirth is the only preparation for childbirth. After giving birth to our first, a little girl named Heather, my wife exclaimed, "Nothing we ever read or heard in our childbirth classes could ever have prepared me for that!" Trust me: the labor wasn't particularly bad and my wife is no vain princess.

So no, if you listen to all the teachers and social workers and parenthood experts who are know-it-alls, you aren't ready to be a father. According to them, every child should be born into the care of the child protective services who will assure that he never takes a ride...
