After two years of recording silence, the Everlasting Word Band is excited to announce the release of its third album, Glory, on November 24th...
This past July the sun was shining full and hot as we unloaded a covered trailer weighed down with gear to record a Christmas record. Mic stands, kick drums, amps, acoustic treatment and cables were carried assembly-line style into the home where we would spend the next 80 hours tracking 10 of the songs that have come to hold a special place in our hearts.
Initially, we didn’t know what the album would be called, but as we tracked the songs the theme of Christ’s glory emerged.
In Luke chapter 2, we read about a man named Simeon who was righteous and devout. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ and it happened that he was in the Temple when Joseph and Mary brought Jesus for the first time.
Upon seeing the child Jesus, Simeon took him in his arms and said, “Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, according to Your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light of revelation to the gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel.”
Jesus is the glory of God’s people.
Not only this, but Jesus has secured glory for His people. This is the future glory which has yet to be reveled.
Paul tells us in Romans 8 that through Christ, we have been made children of the King, “and if children, then heirs – heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.”
This is the glory that we celebrate on our album. We hope that our songs will help you glorify the Glory of Israel.
