Home ›Insourcing and Apple design, again...
by Tim Bayly on January 11, 2013 - 4:59pm
Here's a good article (riffing off an Atlantic piece on insourcing) that shows why I've always been a subscriber to TidBITS and why Apple design is peerless. I couldn't get anyone to read it in my earlier post, so I'm reposting it here. Comments about how much you love your Mac or PC and how expensive your PC or Mac isn't are not allowed. Comments about design, insourcing, and TidBITS only, please.

Back to idolatry. Maybe you have an interesting topic.
>>Back to idolatry.
You may be right. God bless you.
It's interesting to me how so many people equate "design" with "looks pretty" or "sleek". Apple's design is not primarily about how the product looks but how it functions. The aluminum body for their laptops, as the article points out, is more about weight and strength than mere looks. On a different note, I have never been able to subscribe to TidBITS because their web-design is so ugly and cluttered --- maybe they should take a hint.
Perhaps an uptick in insourcing is also related to an uptick in right-to-work laws.
