Vehicles for large families...

As any father of a growing family will tell you, finding progressively larger vehicles to fit your progressively larger family can be a difficult process. If you're looking for a 12-passenger vehicle with substantially more storage room than a normal 12-passenger van, you might consider this one available for sale right now... ...that is, if Dave A. doesn't buy it first.

My favorite feature...re-inforced roof to accomodate a long roof rack in case you want to use it for hunting!  Here I was looking to boost seating capacity and (SHAZAAM) I get this incredible bonus feature!  Who won't bid on this thing?

All it needs is spinners!  It's got a patched together frame, three acccidents, title and other issues.  Even better, it's 27 years old.  Sign me up!

Seriously, have these people never heard of a new technology called the "trailer hitch," with which a one ton van or Suburban can tow a trailer up to five tons in weight with all one's stuff in it?

I like this one better...

(except for the "all-electric" part)

I would seriously consider a Ford Taurus wagon (~1998-2003) as a second car. Combination of:

  • Old fashioned station wagon nostalgia
  • Seats 8 with 2 kids in the trunk, if you have the front bench seat option (bring back the bench! bucket seats are so distant and impersonal)
  • Looks roughly like a queen bee

Doesn't get the best gas mileage though.

I didn't know you were a Cake fan, Daniel...

Stickshifts and safetybelts,
Bucket seats have all got to go.
When we're driving in the car,
It makes my baby seem so far.
I need you here with me,
Not way over in a bucket seat.

We're in San Antonio if anyone is serious and wants us to check it out in person. Take it for a test drive perhaps? ;)

That's not a Suburban but Chevy's prototype "Suburb". I remember seeing parents who solved the space problem by having their kids recline in the rear window of the family sedan. My wife rode in the cubby hole behind the rear seat of her mom's '68 Volkswagen Beetle!
