A man protecting a woman as he ought...

(WARNING: a part of male anatomy not usually mentioned in educated company is named in this video.) When a woman is in danger, a true man acts without regard to his safety. Immediately. Charles Ramsey's my hero, the more so because he speaks with the honesty that only an education can remove from us.

Wow- just amazing. Good on him!

What's up with the her/him stuff, I'm not tracking?

Nate, read the comments under this other post of a video and I think you'll see. Love,

Aw, forget it. I made the text vanilla so no one would be offended. Love,

What a down to earth man!!

Wouldn't anyone, male or female, help in this situation?

Wouldn't a man or a woman try to  knock down the door? If that wasn't possible, wouldn't the next logical step be to call the police? Regardless of gender, that is what a good person would do.

Plenty of women could knock down the door (and plenty couldn't)

Plenty of men could knock down the door (and plenty couldn't)

The point is, both men and women would try to help in a desperate situation like that one. If a good woman heard the screams next door, she'd take action, just as this guy did.

Gender doesn't automatically determine who is stronger. Honestly, once a man hits middle age, there are plenty of younger women that are stronger and faster than he is.

Uh oh. Better break out the he/hers again.

Bob, just between me and you I'm so glad I'm not the only one that sees the cunning insidiousness of Tim's hatred for all women. No matter how many times he explains this to us, you and I can stand resolute against it. Because clearly he meant that no woman anywhere, anyhow, any way could ever, ever save another human being.

Bob, are you willing to submit to being taught from Scripture? There are men here willing to teach you if you are willing to learn.

Love,

I would commend that anyone wanting to get a background for the Scriptural basis for man's duty to protect woman (as opposed to simply people's duty to protect people, or maybe even a hulky woman's duty to protect shrimpy men) read the PCA study report, titled Man's Duty to Protect Woman. After the background and introduction, the major sections are:

  • GOD THE FATHER, FROM WHOM ALL FATHERHOOD GETS ITS NAME
  • JESUS CHRIST: SAVIOR OF HIS BRIDE
  • CHURCH OFFICERS: WATCHMEN OVER CHRIST'S BRIDE
  • ADAM: DEFENDER OF EVE AND THE GARDEN
  • MAN: DEFENDER OF WOMAN
  • WOMAN: GIVER OF LIFE; and
  • SEXUAL DIFFERENTIATION: GOD'S GOOD GIFT.

I read through it with my wife to help us be able to answer those around us who would say that women in combat is just fine. How helpful it was to both of us. Bob's not alone with those questions and with his human reasoning, we all think that way---but when we hold up that sexless "people helping people" reasoning to God's definition of father, and Christ's definition of husband, and the Holy Spirit's definition of church officers; and when you see that those saying their women are strong enough to risk their lives in battle (Bob didn't say this but it's just another step down his same path) are either denying that those women are already called to risk their lives in the bearing of children or saying it's just fine for the women to risk their lives in two arenas while men don't risk their lives anywhere---we begin to see how different our reasonings are from God's good Word. And we see that our talk and our actions look a lot like Adam's shameful running from responsibility. O let us repent, and take up that responsibility, and not hide behind the skirts of our women any more.

Kudos to this guy.  I'd eat Q with him.

And Bob, are we really under the impression that anyone would do the right thing?  Really?  Terrified woman screaming to get out of a house, you don't know who is behind her, and what weapons he does or does not have?

No, I think that a lot of people would have refused to help.  Again, kudos to this gentleman.

If it was me who had witnessed this situation, I probably would have ran the other way and called 911. Even though I'm probably "stronger than most middle-aged men." This man did show bravery and God protected him.
