Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet...

On Mother's Day 1958, Fraser Robinson III honored his mother, LaVaughn Delores Robinson, with the gift of a Bible that became the only Bible she read. Mrs. Robinson was the first black manager of Moody Bible Bookstore, the Chicago institution at the corner of LaSalle and Chicago since sold to the Southern Baptists.
Sunday, January 20, Mrs. Robinson's Bible will be used for the actual (private) swearing in of President Barack Obama for his second term. Mrs. Robinson was the First Lady's grandmother. So reports the Washington Post.
Let us pray for President and Mrs. Obama.

Just the thought of this man swearing on her Bible will likely have Mrs. Robinson not only spinning in her grave but going into high rotation....

If evangelicals spent half as much time in sincere prayer for President Obama as we do complaining and wringing our hands about him, I can only imagine what might happen.
mrs robinson was courageous. there weren't blacks at Moody then. I remember the 1-2 peer student blacks ( between 1967-70) burning their diplomas.
I remember the National Guard on all the streets after King assassination in 68.
It was a mark of her character she'd work for a systemically racist institution.
