Once again, Pastor Doug Wilson blesses us with a timely and wise pastoral warning--this time on the things-aren't-always-as-they-appearingness of Christian adoptions.

"If we held a conference for men, and we had two registration lines -- one for hen-pecked husbands, and the other for men who were not -- we might discover that half the guys in the non-hen-pecked line were there because their wives told them to stand in that line."
I don't often laugh out loud while reading, but that got me.
I wish he had mentioned the related topic of single women adopting children, which isn't driven by the father, because there isn't one.

Denver,
The first and second clauses of your sentence:
are straightforward.
But could you please explain what
relates to the first part of the sentence? I mean this question honestly. You have something to say and I don't understand what it is. I'm assuming that other readers/posters of this blog might also wonder what you mean.
It is hard to be driven by a father when there is no father.
Thanks. Sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees.
I remember a few years back, a missionary from a church I was attending noted that the phrase "USA" sounded a lot like a Filipino phrase meaning "henpecked husband." I don't know if it's true, but I still get a smile out of it. (USA! USA! USA!)
And I've got to admit; I know my share of adoptive families where Mom is clearly the one driving it. Sounds like more ought to emulate our gracious hosts and encourage men to adopt, and wives to follow.
