Remember how Tim Keller duct-taped his own mouth shut when he was questioned about preaching against homosexual practice during a Q&A session at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis?
It's deja vu all over again, but this time the man gagging himself is Billy Graham's son Franklin. The questions concern Mormonism's claim to be true Christianity and the forum is CNN's coverage of the presidential campaign debates.
In a comment under Joseph's post just below concerning the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's removal of its web material exposing the Mormon heresy, Mark Dove provides a link to the following CNN transcript of this exchange between Piers Morgan and Franklin Graham...
MORGAN: Do you think he is a Christian?
GRAHAM: Well, first of all, I’m not going to get into what each candidate believes or they don’t believe. All I know is. . . .
MORGAN: You would forgive me if I said from all of this that you’d probably aren’t quite ready to say he’s a Christian.
GRAHAM: First of all, I’m not going to get into this debate as to who’s a Christian or who’s not a Christian. I’m not even going to go there.
MORGAN: Don’t you think it’s quite an interesting debate, though?
GRAHAM: You ask him. I’m not going to speak for the governor.
MORGAN: Well, I think he would say that he thinks he is Christian …
GRAHAM: I’m not going to get in that debate.
Is Billy Graham a minister of the Gospel or an elder Republican statesman? And his son--is Franklin an Evangelical NGO executive or a spokesman for the Church of Jesus Christ of the present-day saints?
Hard telling, isn't it? We know the Billy Graham Memorial dominates the front campus of Wheaton College so it would appear that the Grahams have something to do with speaking for some aspect of the Church. And yet, it's tough to figure out precisely who or what? And we can't ascertain the damage gagging the BGEA and Franklin is causing until we know who and what they speak for.
Franklin Graham's the CEO of his Dad's Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Do he and the BGEA exist exclusively for the purpose of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world?
If so, it's scandalous for them to gag themselves concerning Mormonism's denial of the Gospel of Jesus Christ merely to help this or that man to get elected to the presidency of this or that country.
Do Billy and Franklin speak for Wheaton College, whose motto is "For Christ and His Kingdom?"
If so, it's wrong for them to gag themselves concerning Mormonism's denial of the divinity of Jesus Christ merely for the purpose of working to advance a man to the presidency of the kingdom of these United States.
Does Franklin speak for an explicitly Christian NGO whose purpose is to do Good Samaritan work that "earns (them) a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ?"
If so, it's a betrayal of their very purpose to gag themselves concerning the Book of Mormon's plagiarizing the Holy Scriptures, promoting polygamy, and denying the Gospel of Jesus Christ merely to the end that Mitt Romney will have a fighting chance to replace Barack Obama as POTUS.
On the other hand, Radical Two-Kingdom men can breathe a sigh of relief that Billy and Franklin didn't tell Americans that Mormonism is a heresy and then command us not to put a Mormon heretic in the Oval Office of the White House.
It's an ill-wind that blows nobody some good.
