Professor Anthony Bradley joins Ms. Rachel Held Evans...

Professor Anthony Bradley has mounted a scurrilous attack on Doug Wilson by parroting the Southern Poverty Law Center's scurrilous attack on Doug Wilson. They're all agreed Doug's a promoter of racism. Wasn't it Mark Twain who said, "Hain't we got all the fools in town on our side? And ain't that a big enough majority in any town?"

There are three thought crimes that take you off the plantation today and Doug's bagged two of them.

He's had the temerity to question the moral majesty of President Abraham Lincoln and his war against states rights. We've all been force-fed the Big Truth that the Civil War was only about freeing the slaves, that the work done toward that effort was ever and only good and that it has absolutely no connection in any way and ever to the slaughter of 1.3 million unborn babies each and every year across these United States; and that's an end of it!

So if you're one of the idiots who dares to think there's more to say about the Civil War than the Emancipation Proclamation and more to say about slavery than William Lloyd Garrison said in the basement of Park Street Church... you better shut your mouth because all the thought police are about to make you wish you'd never been born.

But of course Doug does have a brain and he does think--often originally--and he's never been big on thought police and safety.

Strike one.

Doug's also had the temerity to question the moral majesty of egalitarianism. He doesn't think it's sweet for women to rule their husbands and wear their hair butch-like.

Strike two.

Three thought crimes relegate you to the scorn of all those who chose schooling over an education: racism, sexism, and anti-Semitism.

Ms. Rachel Held Evans marshaled her forces to smear Doug as a sexist.

Prof. Anthony Bradley is marshaling his forces to smear Doug as a racist.

I tremble to think what Woody Allen has up his sleeve.

And by the way, did I mention that Doug had some warning that Prof. Bradley was about to punch him below the belt, so he contacted Prof. Bradley and asked if they could talk on the phone before he finalized his piece? Prof. Bradley declined.

And by the way, did I mention that Doug responded to Prof. Bradley's scurrilous attack by offering him a free trip to Moscow to speak on a subject of his own choosing with all expenses and an honorarium guaranteed by his victim? With enemies like that, who needs a friend?

It is disturbing when one goes out of their way to offer an opportunity for clarity and are denied.  I guess we should be expecting this to be happening.  Why would any person doing any research would use SPLC that has proven to be a bastion of a liberal smear machine as a main source instead of going to the author, himself?

Doug Wilson has gone above and beyond the call of duty in making himself available and then his willingness to turn the other check offering an all expense paid trip out to Moscow, ID, is noteworthy.  I am becoming more and more convinced that the post-modernity thought pattern is much more destructive than could be anticipated, especially with Reader Response being the choice hermeneutic of this age.

Money quote- I tremble to think what Woody Allen has up his sleeve.

Did Prof Bradley quote Doug Wilson at all in that diatribe?

Praying that the participants in this...words elude me....will remember Matthew 18:15-19 in all this.  I can see a face to face meeting or confrontation, and I can see attempting a refutation of Black & Tan.  It saddens me to see this.

I got to know Anthony years ago in campus ministry in college, and I have had difficulty comprehending his views lately. I posted on his accusation that J. Gresham Machen and Cornelius Van Til were segregationists: http://jgmachen.org/2011/05/23/machen-and-van-til-as-segregationists/

Maybe they were segregationists. But the paper-thin evidence of this didn't stop AB. I'm disappointed.
