I don't get it.
Ask Terri what's hanging on the clothesline, then read the Scripture verse underneath the pic.
Love,
David,
I don't get it either.
I did ask her. She said they were diapers or diaper wraps. That helped a little, but not all the way.
Generally, those who change, wash and hang diapers on the line to dry are women. The verse reads, "let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." The blog writer didn't emasculate the verse to make it applicable to women who are devote their strength to childbearing/rearing. Pretty sure that's the point.
Gotcha. Thanks, Amanda.
I was impressed by the organization of the diapers by color....
That color cordination was done by my 7 year old daughter, she's VERY precise in these sort of things!
My blog is essentially about living out our lives within family, sacred community, and society in strenous, sacrifical, Bible-centered ways for King Jesus and for the love of our neighbor, but all of it accompanied by laughter and song on our lips (Matt 11.29-30; Eph 5.1-2; Rom 12.1; Phil 2.3-8). Hence the name, and the picture of diapers that I hope communicate that vision of discipleship under Christ.
And I guess just for the record, the picture has nothing at all to do with advocating some egalitarian nonsense about changing diapers between husband and wife (my wife does the lion's share btw, though I like to get in there when I'm needed and get a little dirty. It's orthopraxy getting up off the doctrinal couch!)
So, that's what I hope folks see in it: cross-shaped joy.
