Roman Catholic deacon renounces her ordination...

(Tim, w/thanks to Kamilla) Repentance is such a wonderful thing. When our church transferred from the PC(USA) to the PCA, during my transfer exam on the floor of Northern Illinois Presbytery I was asked what I believed about the ordination of women to the office of pastor and elder...

I responded, "I've done it. I repent."

And I was led to this simple obedience and public confession by all the women of our congregation who had been serving as deacons and elders for decades, but had themselves repented of it, fully embracing our entry into an ecclesiastical association where we disciplined one another to refuse to call, elect, set apart, commission, or ordain woman officers. God bless those women.

She wasn't really a Roman Catholic deacon, you know. She just thought she was for a few days. I guess maybe that's your point - that female deacons and elders are illegitimate. To which I agree. But the Catholic Church doesn't recognize these women deacons and priests as legitimate either.

Women get ordained every day.

A woman minister was of enormous help to my family a few years back.

Thank goodness we live in a country where we are free to practice religion as we please!

God Bless America!

Dear Janine,

After watching you for a while, I've sadly concluded that you are a rebel against God the Father and intent on using lies and obfuscation to promote your rebellion among our readers. Since I am obligated by ordination vows to silence the wicked, you may not post here any more unless your comment is to announce your repentance for that rebellion--which would give us all joy.

For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain. One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith, not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. (Titus 1:10-16)

Good readers, please pray for Janine's soul.

Love,

As Tim knows, I am unsound on the matter of women church leaders (I don't want to focus on "ordination" because I am unsure whether it's even a biblical category). I am unsound from the feminist perspective, too, because of my real uncertainty on the subject. But my point is that as soon as I read this: "Thank goodness we live in a country where we are free to practice religion as we please!" my thoughts were exactly the same as Tim's. This poor woman thinks it's all about US. "USism" is, I suppose, the natural religion of fallen man, part of that from which Christ has saved us.

Thank God that there are people like you who are willing to serve Him. I like this blog. By the way, I just want to share this blog http://prime1-marco.blogspot.com/ - Confessions of a Thirty Something Cybertronian

I hope all of you will like it.

Thanks!
