(Tim) Please pray for David and Cathron Dodrill and their children as they mourn the loss of their oldest son, Stephen Dodrill, who died in an ATV accident late this afternoon.
Thou knowest, Lord, the secrets of our hearts. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.
From the Book of Common Prayer:
When they come to the Grave while the Corpse is made ready to be laid into the Earth, the Minister shall say, or the Minister and Clerks shall sing.
Man, that is born of a woman, hath but a short time to live, and is full of misery. He cometh up, and is cut down, like a flower; he fleeth as it were a shadow, and never continueth in one stay.
In the midst of life we are in death: of whom may we seek for succour, but of thee, O Lord, who for our sins art justly displeased?
Yet, O Lord God most holy, O Lord most mighty, O holy and most merciful Saviour, deliver us not into the bitter pains of eternal death.

To lose your child, no matter what the circumstances, it's awful. It seems parents, in some ways, never recover. That ache is always present, in the deepest places of the heart.

I, too, have a child in heaven, 22 years old a couple of days ago, nine when she entered glory. She is for me the vanguard of loved ones in the Lord, who await my arrival in the Lord's time.
Meanwhile, I miss them all, and my heart has an anchor firmly fixed in heaven. And, I rejoice for those now comforted for the evils they endured while on earth, and -- in my daughter's case -- for the evils she was spared. They all are now safe, eternally safe. This greatly comforts me, and I pray it will also comfort you.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your oldest son. Death is an enemy and it should not be this way. Lord have mercy on us all. May God be with you as you grieve for Stephen.
