Submergent church leaders have a lot to answer for...

(Tim, w/thanks to Tim W.) Among the many wicked things Submergent church leaders have given us through their support of Barack Obama's presidency, we come to this:
...the Senate (defense) bill also expands the federal hate-crimes law to those attacked because of their sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability.
I'm wondering if Rob Bell will negotiate an exception for pastors preaching that sodomy is an abomination before God?

Wouldn't he have to believe that there is a valid "truth claim" that "sodomy is an abomination before God" before he pressed for such an exception?
Perhaps he does, I have not read enough by him to tell.

My understanding is that Senator Brownback managed to add a religious speech exemption. What exactly that means I'm not sure. Maybe that's why so many republicans voted for it? Although our dear Senator Lugar was for it to begin with. He informed me by email not that long ago that he was in favor of "the most recent version of this legislation that was brought before the Senate in 2007". This was after the 2009 version had passed out of the judiciary committee. Made me think he thought I was just stupid but maybe it was just his staff mistakenly sending out the wrong form letter. He never did reply to my request for a comparison of the 2007 and 2009 versions of the hate crimes bill.
