The work of the Emergent church proceeds...

(Tim) Sure, most NOOMA videos you've seen already, but here's one we're betting you missed. It's a clip of Bell's latest church leadership technique called "deformission." Like Bells' other videos, the letdown here's so quiet and soft most believers miss it entirely.

Don't get it.

Mind explaining what that was all about?

NOOMA videos are Rob Bell's effort to demolish the Church, and this is a video of a new type of demolition that takes the building down from the bottom up, smoothly and without any loud explosions to call attention to what's going on. It's stealth demolition.

Had to watch it twice to get it...

Eph 2:19-21 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

> NOOMA videos are Rob Bell's effort to demolish the Church

I'm pretty sure that is why he makes them.

Or maybe is goal isn't to demolish the church?

This demolition is removing the first floor of a building. The analogy to the church is very scary.

If Christ is the cornerstone, and upon that stone was laid the foundation of the apostles and prophets (Ephesians 2:20-21) what is Rob Bell removing? Is he demolishing the testimony of the early church, the church fathers, Augustine, Church councils like Nicea and Chalcedon, the Protestant Reformation itself, or all of the above?

To draw on another analogy, it's hard to believe that people are swallowing his teachings "hook, line and sinker."

I Timothy 3:1-9

1But understand this, that(A) in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2For people will be(B) lovers of self,(C) lovers of money,(D) proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3(E) heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal,(F) not loving good, 4treacherous, reckless,(G) swollen with conceit,(H) lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having the appearance of godliness, but(I) denying its power.(J) Avoid such people. 6For among them are(K) those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7always learning and never able to(L) arrive at a knowledge of the truth. 8Just as(M) Jannes and Jambres(N) opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth,(O) men corrupted in mind and(P) disqualified regarding the faith. 9But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all,(Q) as was that of those two men.

How long, O Lord, till you open the eyes of this generation of your people?

OK, I'm all about reformation, me understand why a pastor is about demolishing the church. Huh?

Whenever I view the "emergent" movement from my position in fundamentalism, I feel like a guy walking out of Ruth's Chris, and here comes Bell or whoever trying to offer me a "SPAMwich." I know my church isn't perfect, but please....

My church has home groups and in those groups they study books and videos such as the Nooma series, Abba's child,Repenting from religion, The Ragamuffin Gospel ect...

I would like to understand what one should be concerned about and why. If you would have the time.

Would it be possible to send my church link to the online podcasts in privacy would you be able to listen and discern if there is anything spiritually alarming to you?

I know I am asking a lot and understand if this is not possible.
