Barack Obama rocks XIV: Out of the mouth of babes...
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. (Luke 10:21)
(Tim) A few years ago, a family moved from Bloomington, Indiana to a distant city. We miss them, father and mother, and children. Occasionally there are Christian parents who understand the weakness of pastors and teach their children to express affection for their work and ministry. The children of this family darted across the church to jump into my arms and hug me after Lord's Day worship. What kindness that was! It strengthened me immensely each week. And when they moved away, with many others I felt the loss keenly.
Other children of Church of the Good Shepherd are similarly affectionate toward their pastors, but for various reasons this loss was especially difficult. Earlier this morning, I received an e-mail from the mother of these children. Here's what she wrote by way of introduction to her son's godly rebuke of Senator Barack Obama...
I thought you might get a kick out of seeing this letter that (my son) wrote to Senator Obama. Yesterday, there was a large group of people holding up 6 foot high posters of both unborn babies and pictures of aborted babies outside one of the Planned Parenthood murder centers (this is also one of the biggest intersections in [our city].) For those stopped at the stop light there was a young man with a megaphone telling exactly how many babies are being killed in our city each day. Even though (my son) has known about abortion for a long time, it made a profound impact on him. He kept asking me...about it and I felt like a mother trying to explain to her son why everyone thinks the emperor has clothes on. It's plain to the children that he's naked; the arguments sound so hollow in the ears of a child. "They think the babies are not human because of their size and their location." "What, size makes you a person?"
Anyway, (my son) got this idea on his own of writing Obama a letter. The argument he totally thought of on his own, about how blacks used to not be considered humans. In fact, everything he said was his idea. Out of the mouths of babes...
Love to all,

(Tim, again) I was asked to place the text of the letter here for those who can't read it:
Dear Senator Obama,
I am 9 years old. This is not a school project or parents word or idea. I'm writing this on my own. Back in the day, people thought blacks like you were not human. I hope in the future people look back to us and say: "Back in the day, people thought baby's were not humans" as silly as we talk about slavery now. W(e) don't go through a metamorphosis. Flip (page) We start human and stay human.
Signed with his name, and under his name he wrote:
