How Long?

In speaking with a member of the news media who often deals with health issues earlier today, I was told that a nurse who has worked with nearly 200 hospice patients who have willingly placed themselves in situations like Terri's says she has found the average length of time people survive without food and water to be more like 1-3 weeks than 1-2, and in some cases even longer.

The process of destruction accelerates once urination is no longer possible. Thus, when David Curell heard a doctor say to the news media at the hospice site earlier today that Terri is still evacuating small amounts of fluid, it was significant news. If this is so, end stage kidney destruction may not yet be thoroughly under way.

May God preserve Terri from her persecutors. Those of you who heard Larry King ask Bobby Schindler on his show tonight whether his family is pleased Michael Schiavo has agreed to an autopsy cannot miss the sickeningly cavalier attitude of many in the media to this tragedy. They have her dead while she still lives. Totalitarianism, thy name is CNN (and the rest of their ilk). Read the first Hannah Arendt quote in the entry two below if you doubt this.
